Beginner Wood Bowl Turning: 2-day Comprehensive Class
This two-day beginner class is a comprehensive introduction to bowl turning and no experience is necessary. We will focus on developing the basic skills needed to turn a simple wooden bowl from "green" unseasoned log wood.
Working at a power lathe, students will learn how to properly execute bevel rubbing cuts and scraping techniques using a traditional bowl gouge. We will also be using a detail gouge, parting tool and scraper, along with various lathe accessories, hand tools and measuring tools. Although this is a beginner class, it is also a great refresher course for the intermediate bowl turner.
All tools, equipment, materials and supplies will be provided; however, students are required to provide their own face shield and wear it during class. Please note that we will be using traditional turning tools in this class. Carbide scraping tools will not be used.
