Quilting 102 (Ages 12-adult)
Are you ready to take the next step in your quilting journey? This course will dive into half square triangles and flying geese without cutting any of your points off. Students will also learn how to properly add borders and sashing to their quilt, so their quilt top lays flat to avoid puckering during the quilting process.
Skill Level: Intermediate - students should have taken quilting 101 course or have 3-5 quilting/sewing project experience prior to enrolling in this class. Students should be comfortable using a sewing machine and maintaining a consistent seam allowance, be familiar with right and wrong sides of fabric and have a rotary tool and mat to use at home.

Hi! I’m Katie, the owner of Modern Textiles, based in Alexandria, Minnesota. Quilting has been a creative constant in my life, and what started as a love for fabric and design has grown into a space where I get to help others bring their quilts to life—one stitch at a time.
I specialize in professional longarm quilting, with a modern approach that highlights the heart of each quilt while adding texture and movement. I love working on all kinds of projects, from clean and minimal to playful and a little quirky. I’m endlessly inspired by the stories and creativity behind every quilt top that arrives in my studio.
When I’m not at the longarm, I’m designing modern quilt patterns and pantographs that blend bold graphics, clean lines, and a touch of mischief. My goal is to create designs that feel approachable, satisfying, and exciting to sew.
I believe quilting should feel fun, creative, and meaningful! Hope to see you in person!
